Getting ready - the stuff you must bring

In order to meet and enjoy the challenge, you need to bring a certain type and quantity of gear and clothing. We could rent it out to you, but we want you to buy your own stuff so you can participate fully and wholeheartedly in all the adventures - during and after the semester. If you want to or need to bring something that's not on these lists, please contact us so we can talk about it.

Please read the Student Manual (available only in Spanish), where the updated and detailed lists appear. The ones on this page are only for reference purposes - don't use them for your actual shopping. Also visit the Gear and Clothes picture page to get a better idea of what these things look like.

 

Clothes

Some of these items are optional, and some are gender-based:

  1. Short- and long-sleeve t-shirts
  2. Clothes for non-casual events
  3. Wicking short- and long-sleeve t-shirts
  4. Jeans
  5. Hiking pants
  6. Workout pants
  7. Casual shorts
  8. Workout shorts
  9. Bathing suit or trunks
  10. Rain jacket
  11. Fleece jacket
  12. Underwear and socks, including thermal underwear and hiking socks
  13. Sock liners
  14. Sleepwear
  15. Hiking boots

School supplies

Your text books are already included in your semester fee. Here's what's not included and you must bring:

  1. Pens and pencils
  2. Notebook
  3. Daily planner
  4. Journal notebook
  5. Envelopes, stationary and stamps for mail
  6. Study Bible

 

Miscellaneous

For items where an amount is not mentioned, bring enough for the entire semester.

  1. Personal care and hygiene products (shampoo, soap, razor, etc.)
  2. Sunblock or sunscreen
  3. Shower/bath towel
  4. Water-less hand cleaner, like Germex o Purrell
  5. Blister kit
  6. Common meds (for colds, diarrhea, pain-killers, etc.)
  7. Pics of family and friends
  8. Tweezers

 

What you must NOT bring

These are a few examples of things you will NOT need here and should NOT bring:

  1. Obvious: drugs and alcohol
  2. Laptop, cell phone, PDA, iPod, mp3 player, Gameboy, walkman or discman, etc.
  3. Books and magazines other than what's listed
  4. Unnecessary jewelry
  5. Hair blower, curler, iron, etc.
  6. Unnecessary perfume and makeup
  7. Food, snacks, candy bars, etc.
